It’s not unusual for people to wonder why Salem more or less owns Halloween. It’s long been celebrated all over the USA and in foreign countries as well. Since Salem is known as the “Witch City”, and the witchcraft trials tragically occurred in Salem, it’s a safe bet that it has something to do with witches. And maybe someone came up with a simple formula: Salem=witches, Witches=Halloween, therefore Salem=Halloween. Simple as that. But when you’re in Salem in October, you can just feel that aura of eerie magic that flows in and around the old streets and buildings. After all, Salem’s been here since 1626. You couldn’t pick a better place to be the epicenter of Halloween. With all the entertainment, restaurants and unique shops, it’s no surprise that fans of all things Halloween are drawn to return here every October.
